Done in a Day

Done in a Day is JLS’s most versatile program. Each year JLS surveys current and potential new community partners to gauge current needs and assess how JLS can assist in fulfilling those areas of need.  JLS provides volunteers, materials and other necessary resources to complete critical one-day projects to allow the community organizations to focus their main purpose.

Kids in the Kitchen

In 2006, Junior Leagues from across four countries implemented international Kids in the Kitchen initiative designed to help communities address the urgent issues surrounding childhood obesity and poor nutrition.  The Junior League of Sacramento created their own local Kids in the Kitchen program in 2008 with the goal of engaging kids in the preparation of healthy meals as a means to educate them and their parents regarding nutrition and healthy choices.

JLS provides fun and interactive lessons at the Oak Park Sol Community Garden, on nutrition and basic cooking skills taught by local chefs, re-think your drink, myplate lessons and receive healthy recipes to prepare a variety of healthy meals and snacks at home.
